How to become a better athlete at an older age

When we think of athletes in their prime we usually think of them being college aged to their late 20s and early 30s. But with Tom Brady’s continued excellence in his late 30s and now 40s, there is more heightened awareness on how to be a better athlete as you age.

So what can you do? How can you become a better athlete into your 30’s 40’s and beyond? Here are some tips to help you do just that:

  • Watch what you eat and when you eat. When you are younger you could eat a lot of unhealthy food and get away with it, but as you get older, choosing what you eat and when you eat becomes very important. Your metabolism changes as you get older. It is always important to watch what you eat, but as you age, it takes on a whole new level of importance to help you maintain an athletic body.

  • Join an adult league. As you get older it is important to stay active. A great way to stay active is to join an adult sports league. Facilities like the nZone offer a variety of different sports like soccer, basketball and dodgeball that will help you not just stay in shape, but could help you develop better skills or reignite a passion for a particular sport all while making new friends.
  • Get some support and encouragement. Let’s be honest, going to workout out alone can be tough and not very motivating.
