Take a Fun Field Trip in Chantilly!

nSpire’s Field Trips offer academic and enrichment experiences for local homeschool co‑ops, daycares, preschools, and school groups. Designed for children ages 2–16, each visit invites students to dive into interactive, age‑appropriate lessons led by our instructors, exploring science concepts through engaging experiments and hands‑on activities. After their workshop, students have access to a designated area to enjoy lunch, followed by 30 minutes of field time to move and play.

Field Trip Topics Offered

Our Standard Slime Lab invites students to mix their own classic, stretchy slime while discovering the science of polymers and cross-linking.

Our Premium Labs take slime-making to the next level—transforming each session into a full sensory experience:

  • Fluffy Slime: A little air goes a long way. This week’s creation is soft, airy, and irresistibly squishable, all thanks to chemistry.
  • Glow-in-the-Dark Slime: Light up the lab as students explore phosphorescence and craft slime that glows brilliantly in the dark.
  • Crunchy Slime: Scientists use all their senses. Students add beads and textures to create slime that’s as satisfying to hear as it is to touch.
  • Glass Slime: Ultra-soft and dough-like, this slime stretches smoothly while teaching concepts of viscosity and texture.

Hands-On Mapping of the Solar System.  Imagining the distances in space between Earth and our cosmic neighbors can be difficult. This activity allows participants to build a scale model of the distances using a roll of toilet paper on our fields!

Explore air pressure and discover how it affects movement, performance, and equipment in various sports. Through hands-on activities, participants investigate how changes in air pressure influence balls, equipment behavior, and the physics behind athletic play.

Stories come alive as a staff member reads a children’s book, chosen to match the season, and a STEM-based activity. Every season unfolds a new tale and a new adventure, making each trip unique.

For the Spring, StoryBook STEM, students explore the hidden world beneath their feet through the picture book Carl and the Meaning of Life.

In this STEM class, students learn how worms live by moving, building, and exploring like real decomposers. This immersive, movement‑based approach helps children feel how worms move, eat, and transform the soil, turning abstract science concepts into memorable, hands-on learning. Children crawl through “soil tunnels”, experiencing how worms navigate tight underground spaces. They practice “aerating soil” as they push through leaf‑litter sensory bins, feeling how worms mix and loosen the earth.

OPTION 1: For the Spring, StoryBook STEM, students explore the hidden world beneath their feet through the picture book Carl and the Meaning of Life.

After reading about Carl’s journey, students investigate the real science behind worms, soil health, and decomposition. Through hands-on exploration, they observe how worms help break down organic matter, enrich soil, and support living ecosystems. Students then design and build their own classroom worm garden, learning how to create the right environment for worms to thrive. 

 OPTION 2: The Very Busy Spider — Web Builders in Motion

Students move into the world of The Very Busy Spider as they explore how spiders build, move, and engineer their remarkable webs. After reading the story, children travel through a giant yarn “web maze,” crawling, stretching, and climbing just like a busy spider at work. Through these full‑body challenges, they discover how spiders use strength, balance, and pattern to create their homes. This playful blend of story, PE, and STEM helps children understand how spiders build, hunt, and survive.

  • 16-25 Kids: $18/kid
  • 25+ : $15/kid
  • Chaperones: FREE (must have 2 chaperones per 10 students)
