While there are more than 100 different types of yoga – or schools – most sessions generally include breathing exercises and postures (or poses) that stretch and flex various muscles.  And you’re never too old or too young to start!  nZone instructors will help beginners, and all participants, modify positions and learn how to gently push themselves to expand their limitations with the goal of increasing strength and flexibility and getting more in tune with their bodies.  Regular yoga helps clear your mind of anxious thoughts, sharpens your concentration, and allows you to be more effective.

Tammy has been a nZone member since 2013 and started as a Body and Soul cardio and strength instructor in 2014.  She fell in love with Yoga when she started taking classes at the nZone and her post-workout pain and soreness was decreasing.  She started researching more about the benefits of Yoga and became certified as an ACE group fitness instructor.  Tammy says Yoga helped her get in tune with her body and taught her how to release any built up anger and stress.  “Breathing is the most important part of yoga,” Tammy says, “and I like to tell my yogis the best part of yoga is the ability to take it off the mat so that you can use the techniques anywhere – at your computer at work, in the car driving in traffic.”  Tammy is married.  She and her husband graduated from Rice University in Texas.  They have two children and are grandparents to their son’s first child.  Their daughter is getting married this May.

Lisa is a military wife and mother of 5 who moved to Virginia last summer.  She has been an ACE personal trainer for the past 16 years as well as an ACE-certified Lifestyle and Weight Management Coach.  Lisa specializes in small-group training, pre- and post-natal strength training and metabolic conditioning.  She has been teaching yoga and cycling for 14 years and loves it!  In her free time, she loves hanging out with her kids, playing games, watching movies and eating pizza.
