HIIT Workout – High Intensity Interval Training
Bursts of all-out exercise followed by short rest periods. Burns more fat in less time!
What started as a fitness trend back in 2014, HIIT workouts are still highly effective to lose weight and build muscle. Intensity is the key! You push yourself to the max during a HIIT cardio workout for 30 to 90 seconds followed by a rest period of the same amount of time. The rest, or recovery, is essential. During an nZone HIIT workout or Tabata class, the instructor times your exercise sessions and rest to be sure you get the maximum benefits of your workout.
HIIT is really the ultimate fat burning and body sculpting workout. The combination of vigorous exercise and rest periods are called rounds that accelerate your heart rate quickly, then allows time for your body to recover so you can perform again at your max. This repetition burns fat and actually helps you keep burning calories for hours after you exercise. HIIT increases your metabolism turning fat into energy and is the most effective form of exercise for fat loss in overweight and obese people. You’ll lose inches and you might gain muscle!
The physical benefits of a HIIT workout are terrific too. Research shows that HIIT reduces blood pressure, lowers blood sugar and improves oxygen flow and consumption. Most experts suggest HIIT classes 3 times a week and a moderate intensity cardio workout another two days a week.
Try HIIT as part of your weekly exercise regimen and if weight loss is your goal, be sure to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet.

Meet the Instructor
In addition to teaching HIIT and Pound, Julie is the nZone’s new Director of Group Fitness. She is an ACE-certified Group Exercise Instructor and certified in Body Pump, Pound, Generation Pound, and Insanity Live. She has been teaching fitness classes since 2011 and she regularly attends fitness seminars and conferences to keep up with the latest trends and learn new skills and techniques. Julie is a mom of three little girls, a sports enthusiast, pianist, and music teacher. She loves interval/circuit-based training as well as music-based choreographed classes. She strives for variety and never teaches the exact same class twice. She likes incorporating rhythmic lifting into her workouts and uses tunes to create a fun and engaging class experience.
